Being a relative newcomer
to the family and never having lived close enough to spend much time
with everyone, I unfortunately have very few memories or stories to
share. But in thinking about the times spent with Mom and Dad, the thing
that stands out in my mind is their love and devotion to each other and
their very strong love for and pride in their children, grandchildren,
and great-grandchildren. Each unique and special, all so very valued and
cherished. What a gift it is to have them, sharing our lives well into
adulthood, being part of the lives of our children and grandchildren.
God bless you Mom and Dad . . . and keep that love coming!

My Mom.......By Ron

My earliest recollection of my mother was in the early
fifties when she worked as a waitress in a small dinner at Newark
Airport. I used to love going to the airport to see her (and the
airplanes, Lockheed Constellations). I think
that's what started my
love of airplanes, I spent some thirty-three years in the
aerospace industry.
I remember mom was a great cook EXCEPT when she made us creamed
chipped beef on toast. ( I had to explain to Celia why we called
it S.O.S.) I also remember one Thanksgiving when money was tight
and we probably had the smallest bird in town. Mom kept her sense
of humor by calling it our Thanksgiving
Pigeon.
The summer of '63 I remember my mother and a friend, Pat Nichols,
packed up all of their belongings and headed west to California. I
remember my brother Scott and I in the back of that hot station
wagon going thru Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and the Mojave Desert.
( and me with a load of fireworks mom
didn't know about.)
Mom met Art, married, and lived in Fountain Valley for several
years then the move bug hit again. Mom and dad decided to pack up
and head for the Idaho Country. Inwardly I laughed because I never
considered mom as 'domesticated'. She proved me wrong. Growing
gardens, cooking, canning, fishing and camping would soon be her
life.
Mom and Dad now have been married for over thirty years.
I remember mom as forever young, and any thing that I have made
out of my life I owe to her. She still is the prettiest lady
around. |
